Wow. Has it ever been busy here! We are getting ready for Life Choices: The Event to be held at the Tropicana Hotel here in Las Vegas on March 23rd – 25th.
There are so many arrangements to be made for the speakers coming from around the world…and then the Las Vegas speakers have been having rehearsals and pre-events to promote. We had a beautiful two page spread in the Vegas Voice and another one in the North Voice this week thanks to Dan Roberts, one of our authors. And now that we are going to be live streaming the event in real time on GloVue TV around the world, there is all the promotion to be taped. Yesterday was really fun. We were taping at the Fabulous Las Vegas sign right along with all the tourists taking their pictures with the sign. There was even an Elvis imitator there having his photo taken with the people. I felt like a tourist myself and got all caught up in the excitement of being in Vegas. Needless to say, I’m already jazzed about the event.
I’m so excited about Anne Abernathy being here as the opening speaker on Saturday morning. She’s a six time Olympic champion. Nicky Pattinson is coming all the way from England. She is England’s favorite lady speaker. Skye Baloo is coming in early from England and staying with me at the house for a month. Skye will be coordinating all of the speaker activities. My dear friend, Sue B, is coming from New Mexico along with her gorgeous son, West...who is quite a speaker himself, his wife, and child. Dr. Casey McNeal will be here. This week I was at another event, and all the participants could talk about was Casey and his fabulous Building Relationships program. And there are so many others that I can’t even start to name them all!

Looks like I’ll be headed for Trinidad again in April to do an Administrative Assistant conference. I’m so excited to be going back there. The people are wonderful. I had a marvelous time last trip.

Love Yourself!

Who is the most important person in your life? If you instantly thought of someone other than yourself, you may want to pause for a moment and re-think the question.
The single most important relationship we have is the one with ourselves. It is the foundation upon which all other relationships are built. Loving and caring for ourselves is the prerequisite to having lasting, loving relationships with others.
Many of us spend a good deal of time comparing ourselves to others, wondering if we are “good enough” and perceive ourselves to be lacking in some great, lovable characteristic. We then set about proving to ourselves how unlovable and unworthy we are. Why would anyone want to be with us? If we don’t love and honor ourselves, why would anyone want to be loved by someone so unworthy as we perceive ourselves to be?
Loving yourself does not mean being arrogant or egotistical. It doesn’t mean putting yourself first at the expense of others, always winning or only looking out for “number one.” Learning to love ourselves is not a selfish act. When we understand and honor our values, set boundaries and are willing to give love to ourselves, we are teaching others how to treat us by showing them how we treat ourselves.
It is easy to love others when we understand and honor our values, set boundaries and come from a secure, loving place. To give love, we must have love. We can’t give something we don’t possess. To have love, first love yourself. It is then you will love others for the pure joy of loving them…and they will love you.
