Dear ^fname^,

I recently attended art class. The lady that sits directly behind me was new to the class and she brought in her first homework assignment. The instructor looked at it and commented on her having a lot of talent. She immediately started to put herself down and criticize her work. Her criticism was unfounded. Her picture was very good, but she wouldn’t admit it.

Why do so many people feel like they just aren’t good enough? Why are we so hard on ourselves? Why can’t we see our own talents and be thankful for our blessings? Why is having confidence in ourselves and our abilities so hard?

If we are to understand these things, first we need to understand why we think, feel, and act the way we do. What we believe and accept about ourselves determines our behavior and our performance. These, in turn, create our results and our results affect our confidence levels. We behave in accordance with our beliefs about ourselves. If we have self-limiting beliefs, we will have self-limiting behaviors. If we have self-empowering beliefs, we will have self-empowering behaviors. We perform as well as we believe we are capable of performing.

If you are behaving like the lady in my art class, STOP IT RIGHT NOW! There are plenty of people out there who are willing to talk negatively to you and about you. You don’t have to do it to yourself. STOP IT!

When you do your best, your best is good enough. Realize that in order to become truly proficient at anything, we must be willing to do it less than perfect in the beginning. Reward yourself when you have made the effort toward learning something new or doing something you’ve never done before. Reward yourself for having the guts to get out there and try. Taking the action was the important part.

And for goodness sake, when someone compliments you, answer appropriately. The only correct answer is “Thank You.”

You are more than enough!

Define Your Goals

IF you had all the money you would need, all the time it would take, and you knew you absolutely could not fail, what would you do? Who would you do it with? Where would you go? What would you have? What would you want to be? In other words, what goals would you set for yourself, if you knew you couldn’t fail?

Aim for your targetDeciding all these things is what I call vision-setting. If the world was perfect and money was no object, this is the picture you hold in your mind of who and what you would be, what you would do and have, and where you would go. In vision-setting, we put this picture in our minds as though it is happening to us right now. We hold it there. If you will do this, your subconscious mind will find a way to make these things happen, in spite of the facts that the world isn’t perfect and money may be an issue.

There are many people in the world who have great talents and still haven’t succeeded. Talent is not the essential ingredient for getting what you want or becoming the person you want to be. Talent helps, but you and I both know talented people who don’t use their talents to better their lives.

Many of us think we have no control over our lives. Failure to accomplish what we want in life is a result of failing to believe in ourselves enough. We let doubt sneak in and then we make excuses about our abilities, time constraints, training and talents. Doubt creates stress, panic, and anxiety. These defeat our plans and goals.

When we know what we want and take action in the direction of our goals, it gives us a reason to get up in the mornings. When the goal is our own and we work toward it, we have more energy and our days become exciting.

We are all born into greatness and through our upbringing or life circumstances, we sometimes allow life to pull us down into mediocrity. It’s not necessary. Decide now how you want to spend your time. If you feel like life is passing you by and you don’t feel a burning passion inside of you urging you to fulfill your life’s purpose, then something is wrong! Ask yourself these questions:

  • When was I the happiest in my life?
  • What things made me happy?
  • How much time do I spend now doing the things I like to do most?
  • How often do I feel that I am not accomplishing anything?

Then:

  • Make a list of what your childhood dreams were
  • Make a list of your wishes as they are now
  • Make a list of all the things you do well
  • Make a list of all the things you’d like to do.

Once you have analyzed yourself, you will have an idea of what’s missing, what’s needed, and what’s next!

Define your goals! This will put your imagination to work. Start to concentrate on what you really want, rather than just getting by day after day. When you decide what you want in specific detail, your mind will start to formulate a plan to make it happen.

Translate your personal and professional wishes into goals today. Align your goals with your purpose, pursue your vision with passion, and soon you will know that you can’t fail, because you have unlimited possibilities and the power to choose your future.

Judi Receives CSP Designation

CSPIt is official. Judi has achieved the highest earned international recognition for professional speakers, the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation.

Less than 8% of the professional speakers in the world hold this designation.

According to Phillip Van Hooser, National Speakers Association President, “This designation is more than an association recognition for accomplishment and mastery. It is the designation of our profession and as such brings credibility to our work and all of the associations that comprise the Global Speakers Federation.”

We are sorry that we could not use all of the stories that were submitted and we certainly hope that those of you who were not selected this time will continue to submit stories for our publications.

The next one will be Life Choices: Pursuing Your Passion to be released in January 2011.

Mind Workout

Before you can choose a new direction in life, you need to know who you are and what strengths you have. Imagine you have just run into a friend you haven’t seen in years and you are telling this person every good thing you can think of about yourself and your life. Be sure to include every accomplishment you have achieved. Write them down and look at them every day for 21 days.

Affirmation

I am more than enough. There is no one who can be a better me than I can. I am complete just as I am. My mind, my heart and my skills expand to meet each new challenge and need with ease. I am complete. I am more than enough!

What Judi's Clients Are Saying

Thank you

“As in the past, you were professional in every way from booking our date to the actual presentation. I notice that our audiences always relate to your approachable style, enjoy your humor, and appreciate good information they can use right away.”

Joan Burge
Founder & CEO
Office Dynamics

“What perfect divine luck that I would meet you. You saw in me what I was unable, or unwilling, to see in myself. Bless you for being you. You really moved my spirit and because of your lecture I have the wheels in motion to start doing what I really want to do. My goals are now in writing, the dates are set, and the affirmations are verbalized daily. You have motivated me to step off the cliff and soar.

Thanks Judi for putting me back on track to being on the champagne flight through life.”

Renee Robbins

“I had the pleasure of working with Judi Moreo this year on her application to receive the highly sought after Certified Speaking Professional designation with the National Speakers Association. The process brought me in contact with many of Judi's clients and I was moved, not just by their positive comments about her speaking ability, but by how much they genuinely cared about her as a person. And after working with her on this project, I see why so many people think so much of Judi. I'm so glad that she will be receiving her medallion at the NSA Convention in July! I'll be the one screaming like a crazy person when she walks across that stage!”
