Dear ,

While in the process of writing this newsletter to you, I got a call that my sister, Betty Stanley, was taken to emergency and I rushed to St. George, Utah, but not in time to speak with her. She made her transition to a better world on Thursday evening. It is very hard to say “Goodbye.” Betty has always been more like a second Mom than a sister. She lost her husband about 10 years ago and has been in bad health since that time. She was an incredible artist, a fabulous cook, and a good friend. I shall miss her. I miss her already! Her funeral will be Friday at 2 pm at the Beryl Baptist Church in Beryl, Utah.

Wow, April was a busy month. Between working with my mentoring clients, speaking at the Stephen’s Press event on “Getting Paid to Speak” and four presentations at the Las Vegas Writer’s Conference, I was quite busy and loved every minute of it. At the Writer’s conference, I met Maralys Wills and attended some of her sessions on how to write a novel. I learned so much from her and hope they bring her back again next year.

Bob Mayer, the keynote speaker, was awesome. I bought his book, “The Novel Writer’s Toolkit” and absolutely love it. I’m going to try my skill at writing a novel. I have a very active imagination. Isn’t that what one needs to write a novel?

Thank you to all of you who sent me cards, letters, emails, and links regarding the healing of cancer. I have spent many, many hours in research and many more in various doctors’ offices this month. It has been an interesting and frustrating experience. There are so many conflicting beliefs about cancer treatments. Sometimes I just want to run away to the beach and forget this is happening to me, but of course, that’s not the answer.

One thing I learned early in life is “when you have a problem, you must gather all the information you can, then make a decision and go for it.” At this point, I’m still in the gathering process. I do know that God still has things planned for me, so I’m praying I make the right decision. I’m also praying that none of you ever have to experience this adventure, because it’s sure not fun.

One really good thing that’s come out of this is my new eating program. I’ve lost ten pounds. YEA! Now that’s fun! Maybe I will run away to the beach for a few days just to find some peace and make my decision.

Remember, life is too short not to enjoy now. I’ve come to realize that NOW is all we have. Be sure to make the most of it and remember...you are more than enough.

Judi

May Day or MAYDAY!

Ship Storm

Does it feel like life has you caught in the storm and about to go down for the third time? Are you sending out distress signals and hoping that somehow, in the midst of all the chaos in your life, someone will hear and come to your rescue?

We all have times when life just seems overwhelming. We’ve been running full speed ahead for so long that our energy levels are depleted. When we do stop to take stock of things, it looks like we’ve been doing our running in circles instead of moving forward. For all of our effort, we feel as though we are still where we started.

It is these times, when we have the least energy and are running out of hope, that we must reset our focus. If we continue to look down, we will see only where we are, knee- deep in our frustrations. Resetting our focus to look up not only gives us a chance to see the break in the clouds, but gives us a breath of fresh air.

Take a deep breath; give yourself time to see a new way forward. Look beyond this storm, this particular obstacle. Make a new plan. Rest. Stop struggling against the wind. This may be the time to make a new plan and take your life in an entirely new direction or it may just be time to give yourself a break so that you can go after the old plan with renewed energy.

It is May Day! The flowers are blooming in brilliant color. The buds have burst forth from the trees. Gather some colorful ribbons and run barefoot through the grass. Look up, the sun is shining. All around us life is renewing itself. Have a cup of tea. Take a moment to breathe. Remember, no matter where you are, there is a way forward. You have the power to change your life, to get the help you need, to lead the way. You are in charge. When you come out of the storm, you will be stronger, wiser and more capable than ever before. You are becoming the incredible being you were meant to be.

Life Choices Submissions

Have you ever had an experience that completely changed the direction of your life? It may have been an accident or a natural disaster.  It may have been the loss of a job, an illness, a divorce or move to a new city. Perhaps it was the unexpected death of someone close to you. Whatever it was that shattered your world and changed the direction of your life, you had choices to make in order to put your life back together.

It may seem that it was all just an exercise in survival.  Something good can come from it all. You can share your story so that others may find a way to cope with whatever is happening in their lives.

Turning Point International is seeking submissions for the next book in the Life Choices series: “Life Choices: Putting the Pieces Together.”  You don’t have to be a professional writer; you just need a good story and a desire to have it published.  We have an editor on staff to help put the polish on it.

Here’s what some of our “Life Choices: Navigating Difficult Paths” authors had to say about their experience:

Deborah Clark“I am a first time writer. No, let me start again. I am an author. Yes, I am!

Working with Judi has been the most enriching chapter of my life...

The support from Judi is endless. She guides you from start to finish. She is professional. She is approachable. She is available. I am certain that working with Judi was paramount to my comfort level.

I see a lot of ads from people that say they will get you published. I don't doubt that they do, but if you want more that that, you need to talk to Judi.”

Deborah Clark,
Author

Deborah Clark“Dear Judi:

To say it has been a joy working with you falls short. I have often thought of sharing my story but hesitated. Timing is everything, they say. Through your vision and encouragement, the time was right. You made the experience of publishing my childhood story one that I know has already changed my life and will change the lives of others. Moving forward is now the only sight I see. Thank you for your commitment to excellence for yourself and the lives of others.”

Andrea Chestnut,
Author

Deborah Clark“Judi,

"After many years of being behind the book table at the back of the room, the experience of actually being recognized as an author was something I won’t soon forget.  The launch weekend you held for the book and all of the authors was, from the beginning, an amazing experience.  I treasure the first copy of the book that was given to us as we walked in the door at the cocktail party.

From the moment I signed my first autograph to speaking in the showcase and getting to know the other authors at the after party, I felt the pride of finally accomplishing a life long goal…seeing my words in print.  I can write, and thanks to you, I have the confidence to continue. I really like being on the other side of the table!”
