Dear ,

The month of May brings back many happy memories for me….May day and winding the May pole every year during elementary school; the costumes my Mom would make me to wear for this event; delivering May baskets full of flowers to friends and elderly people in my neighborhood, and of course, Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day was always a very special time at our home. It was the chance we had each year to tell the woman who was the most important person in our lives just how important she was to us. My sisters, brother, and I always tried to make this day as special as we could for our Mom. We would make breakfast and bring it to her, so she could have breakfast in bed (not that our cooking was any big treat) and we would always include a flower on the tray. We usually made our Mother’s Day cards ourselves, so they would say exactly what we wanted them to say. Daddy would join in and we would take Mom out for lunch or dinner….a far better choice than allowing any of us in the kitchen for the second time in one day. Now that I look back, I think that Mom would have preferred that we stay out of the kitchen all together. But now that Mom is gone, Mother’s Day has taken on a new meaning….a time of remembrance of special times and special places. I have been very blessed this year as I was accepted as one of the contributing authors to the Ultimate Book series new book, “The Ultimate Mom”. Being able to pay tribute to my Mom in a way that the world will have a chance to get to know a little of her incredible beauty, strength, commitment and love is indeed a privilege. Reading the stories of the other authors about their Mothers, about being a Mother, and about trials and tribulations of motherhood has been a truly enjoyable experience. This just might be a book that you would like to give as a gift to that special woman in your life. It is available at Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Amazon.com.

I have just returned from South Africa and attending the IFFPS (International Federation for Public Speakers) Global Summit at which I spoke in Cape Town. The event was held at the beautiful Cape Sun hotel and was attended by outstanding speakers from throughout the world. While I was impressed with all of the speakers and certainly got some fabulous ideas from many of them, I must say the South African speakers were truly exceptional. Having lived in South Africa for many years, I know many of these speakers personally, but had not heard some of them speak before. And some whom I had heard speak many years ago and admired then, are even better speakers today. Our own Wilny Audain did a beautiful program entitled “Nuggets of Gold” where he shared the nuggets he has found in America after immigrating here as a child from Haiti and Elle Swan gave an informative and mind opening presentation on Health and Wellness. My program was very well received and I was thrilled to see many people in the audience that I had only just met and felt an immediate connection with. I skipped out on the conference one afternoon and went to High Tea at the Mt. Nelson (very upmarket) with my dear friend, Mary Monaghan. Mary is an incredible writer of books and screenplays. We had such a lovely time.

Then I went to Krugersdorp to visit with my friends Brenda and Brian Sneag.  Brenda has recently broken her neck in a freak accident.  It was wonderful to spend an evening at their home and sleep over.  Brenda and I stayed in our jammies until noon the next day and talked and talked about times past.

Fiona Carmichael, Elle Swan, and I did a motivational program at the Silver Star Casino in Krugersdorp as a fund raiser for Hospice in the West.  We had 200 people in attendance and it was a grand affair.  The Casino definitely is world class.  Dinner after the event with the Hospice staff was wonderful.   These dedicated professionals are truly angels from heaven.

Elle, her husband, David, and I attended a new South African musical entitled “Umojo” which was fabulous.  Great music, beautiful costumes, and incredible dancing.  It was the history of Africa portrayed through the medium of dance.

Then I spent a day with my friend, Marie Pretorius, who is the leading cosmetologist in South Africa.  It’s always a pleasure to go to her “Secret Room” at Cosmetique 2000 and get all the treatments and indulge in the new skin care products.  After that facial, I came out looking ten years younger.  Shame I hadn’t done it before the convention instead of after.

Robert Forsythe, who was one of my very first agents in Africa many, many years ago, picked me up at the house and drove me out to his beautiful resort “Misty Hills” to see the additions he has been making to the property.  Robert is a true miracle maker.  When I first saw that property those many years ago, I thought he had lost his mind.  He said he was going to turn it into a beautiful resort….and that he has done.  The hotel now has 300 rooms, several conference centers, lush landscaping, the most famous restaurant in Africa “The Carnivore”, an incredible spa and much, more.  It is a true African experience.

In between all these events, I spent as much time as I could with my two best friends, Fiona Carmichael and Carol Scott.  We entertained friends, ate lots of prawns, went to the movie, and shopped.  Even though I only lived in Africa for 8 years, I felt as though I had gone home.

Now I’m back to my real home in Las Vegas, my kitties, and getting back to work.  Have a wonderful month and make Mother’s Day special for your Mom this year.  If she, like my Mother, has made her transition, take time to honor her anyway.  You’ll be glad you did.

Happiness Is A Choice

By Judi Moreo

You have a right and even a responsibility to be happy. Happiness is a state of mind. Many people let life pass them by because they choose to be unhappy. They sit around complaining, worrying, procrastinating, and gossiping about other people instead of making the most of every day.

They talk about the past and how it was “back when.” Some of them live in the state of “one time.” “One time” we did this and “one time” we did that. People who talk and think mainly about the past don’t move forward. They seem to think they will repeat past happiness by reliving their past experiences. In the meantime, their real life circumstances aren’t very happy. How sad that they are reminiscing about how life was “back when” and aren’t living each day to its fullest now. Why aren’t they trying to make themselves happy today? They don’t have a clue how difficult it is for others to be around them.

Other people talk about “someday when.” “Someday when” I make a lot of money, “someday when” I meet the right person, “someday when” my kids are out of school. But “someday when” comes and there’s another “someday when” holding them back. Maybe you are one of these people. If you’ve ever glorified the future believing when something changes, everything else will be better, then you are guilty of living in the future. If you are looking to BUY your happiness, your material desires will always outgrow and outpace your income,  The truth is, if you are not happy with yourself, no amount of money will change things. There will always be someone who earns more than you, has more than you, and spends more than you. Projecting your life into the future is a way of avoiding the present...not taking responsibility for now.

This is very similar to the state of “if only.” “If only” I were thin, “if only” I had more money, “if only” I had a better education, and the ultimate declaration: “If only” I’d win the lottery. Wishing and waiting are not powerful. They will not bring the changes you seek. My feeling is “if only” you’d concentrate on what you can do today to take the steps toward what you want to be, do, and have, you’d be a lot happier. You’d be achieving and accomplishing what you want, and you’d be enjoying the journey as well. Whenever we spend too much time in the past or the future, life seems to slip by before we ever accomplish what we want.

Quit making potholes into canyons
Stop worrying about little things and get on with your life. Our beliefs determine our successes in life. The minister at my church once told me,“Worry is a form of prayer and the form most people practice most often.” I’m sure he didn’t mean to be negative, but he wanted me to realize what people focus on is what they bring about. Worry is fear. Worry is a state of mind which is brought about by indecision. Everything in your life begins with an idea. If you have the idea something will go wrong, it will. Make a decision to give up fear. Know that all things ultimately work out for the best and this will bring you peace of mind, calmness, and power. You will be able to think more rationally when you are at peace.

Life isn’t always easy
Who told you life was going to be easy? There are lots of troubles, irritations, and pains in life. Things happen. Things go wrong. People don’t always do what we want them to. Don’t depend on other people for your happiness. Depend on yourself. Be who you are. Do the things you want to do. Get for yourself the things you want to have. Don’t wait for someone else to be it, do it, or get it for you. The only places you will find knights in shining armor on white horses are in shows on the Las Vegas Strip and in old black-and-white movies. No one is going to ride up and save you. Take care of your own needs. It is not selfish to take care of yourself. You can’t take care of anyone else if you don’t take care of yourself.  And if you aren’t happy, the people around you won’t be happy either.

My dad used to remind me often, “Happiness is like being a lady or a gentleman.  If you have to try to be, you aren’t.”  Make the choice to be happy NOW!

Using Auto-responders Effectively

By Greg Kompes

If you’ve ever set up your e-mail account to send an “Out of the Office” or “I’m on Vacation” e-mail reply, you’ve used an autoresponder. In its simplest form, an autoresponder automatically responds to e-mail messages it receives.

Autoresponders are also used as e-mail marketing tools, immediately providing information to prospective customers and then following up with them at preset time intervals. They can also handle e-mail list subscriptions, confirmations, unsubscribes, and e-mailing to lists in bulk, like your e-zine or information announcements.

Here are examples of how authors use autoresponders:
You can sign up for my zine, The Fabulist Flash (http://www.fabulistflash.com), by filling in your name and e-mail address on my Website—just like most zines. When you hit the “join list” button, your information is sent to my autoresponder, which adds you to my list and sends a follow up confirmation and then an e-mail link with download instructions for the e-book you get as a joining incentive. Each week I send my zine out to my list via autoresponder, without having to worry about individual e-mail addresses, nor who has subscribed or unsubscribed to my list.

Australian author and freelance journalist, Cheryl Wright, offers free mini-courses via autoresponder. After signing up, you receive course lessons spread out over a period of time, one section of the course in each e-mail. Cheryl offers readers information they’re interested in, while at the same time putting her additional paid courses and products repeatedly in front of her niche audience. (For details on how to write your own mini-course to deliver via autoresponder check out “How The Heck Do I Write An Online Course” (http://tinyurl.com/dbhp7m). Autoresponders are the perfect way to extend your niche-topic expert position and increase your readership and following. When set up properly, they’ll also increase your earning potential. And, most autoresponders are easy to use.

Find a service you like. I use and recommend GetResponse (http://tinyurl.com/3xlbxl), but doing a Google search for “autoresponder” will result in dozens of potential options. Like my earlier advice about Websites, it may be worth trying a free service just to kick the tires a bit, but you’ll appear more professional using a paid service that doesn’t include outside advertising in your autoresponder e-mails.

After signing up, follow the simple instructions for setting up your autoresponder. Your service provider will also explain how to include clickable text links or more detailed HTML sign-up boxes on your Website or in your e-mail signature.

Increase Your Business With The Power of Your Book

By Don Boyer

Publisher, The Power of Mentorship books and movie

The way to build, grow and increase your business is to use one of the most powerful marketing tools on the planet…your book!  Your book used the proper way can create thousands of dollars worth of new business, clients and profits for you.  Let’s look at 5 powerful facts of the 21st Century.

  1. Our world is getting smaller. As our world gets smaller the market place gets bigger.  Today we no longer do business nationally but globally.  With the power of the internet we are doing business all over the world and millions are doing it from the privacy of their own homes.  20 years ago it was an amazing  thing if you did business outside of the United States but today having customers on the other side of the world is as common as dealing with customers on the other side of our street.
  2. Our world is rapidly changing; In the 70’s we did business by letter and phone.  In the 80’s we did business by phone and fax machines.  In the 90’s we did business via pagers, fax machines and cell phones. Today we do business via instant internet globally.
  3. We live in a world of unlimited choices.  We have access to every type, size, color and price of product on the planet.  Whatever product we could desire we can have it provided to us by almost an unlimited number of vendors with the click of a button.  There is more business competition in the 21st Century than at any other time in recorded history.  The old advantage of the merchants of the past of “supply and demand” to drive up the price of products is almost a “thing of the past”.
  4. Consumers are smarter today because of the access of information they have from the internet.  People no longer purchase products based on impulse but purchase things based on information and research.
  5. Consumer Accessibility. Because of all the information readily available to the average consumer it also means they are more vulnerable to a massive amount of advertisement from the same portals they get information from-cyber space.  Although we try to protect our self from spam, we find it a daily reality.

Although our world is changing rapidly most companies are still using the same methods of marketing they used almost 100 years ago;

Cold calling-Referrals-Ad Placements

So what’s the answer?  You need a new marketing model for the 21st Century!

Breaking the code of the
million dollar marketing model

1 Attraction:  Wouldn’t you prefer for customers to chase you?  Let them be knocking on your door asking you for your business.  When you give your book away as part of your marketing plan you will find customers coming
after you.

“What is a book?  Your brochure on steroids. People throw away business cards and brochures no matter how fancy they are.  However, no one ever throws a book away”.

2. Stand Out:  We naturally gravitate toward things that are unique.  If there is one thing that the consumer of today avoids like the plaque are things that are bland.  The reason this has become the norm is due to the power of choices given to us on a global scale.  If you take 10 sticks and 9 of them are the exact same size which stick of the 10 stands out and gets noticed?  Businesses everywhere get called on day in and day out with the same old marketing materials.  How many people in your line of business do you know that are giving their potential customers a free quality book…that they
co-authored?

“Co-authoring a book separates you from the masses and makes you standout in the marketplace”.

3. Visibility:  Everybody hates cold calling.  Sales people hate it and that is why they drink 2 pots of coffee and take 3 hours before making their first cold call of the day.  Consumers hate it; nobody likes their privacy invaded and has enough sense that when we want something we go get it.  Although we hate to be sold the fact remains we love to buy (just ask my wife!).  There is a built-in universal law in the world of global commerce and it’s called “A built-in market”.  What that means is no matter what you sell or market there are millions of people that desperately want it and are willing to stuff your bank account full of cash to get it.  How can that be true when the average salesperson’s reality is that customers are as scarce as water in a desert?  The only reason millions of customers who want your product are not at your door step is because they can’t find you.  Most of them don’t even know you exist.

“Having your book in the marketplace allows the customers that are looking to fill your bank account with cash to find you”.

4. Credibility: Someone once said “you can tell a salesman is lying because his lips are moving”.  The consumer of today is so well informed that the information they get from salespeople (by the way, we are all salespeople) means very little unless…we create the “Trust Factor”.  The trust factor is created by our credibility.  Credibility is created by two things; a) a proven track record of success which could take years to establish and/or b) by association with people that have already established credibility in the marketplace.  The number one factor of effective marketing is credibility; this is what you want your marketing efforts to focus on.

“Co-authoring a book with professionals who have a proven track record of success allows you to create Instant Credibility”

  1. Authority:  If you needed brain surgery would you want just a doctor or the doctor who is the authority on the subject?  When you are an author you are an authority on the subject you write about.  Consumers want to deal with those who are the authority of the product or services they purchase.

Being an author establishes you as the authority in your field branding you as an expert”.

  1. Longevity: What you want in your marketing model is longevity without spending a fortune on it.  Placement ads work well but unless you have a bank roll the size of the Sun the results you get will not be what you hoped for.  You are looking to build shelf space with your marketing efforts.  Ads go away, commercials go off the air, deck cards get thrown in the trash but a book sticks around, passed around and then put on the self for a later read.  This all boils down to one thing; you stay in the mind of your customer!

“Selling your book can make you a good profit, marketing your book can create you a financial fortune”

Do you have a story inside of you?

Of course you do! We all have a story of something that has happened, someone we met, some event or circumstance that caused us make a choice.  And the choice we made turned our lives around!  There are people out there in the world who need to hear your story!  It may the very thing that helps them make a choice to turn their lives around for the better.

It’s possible that you think you just don’t know how to write it or you don’t have the time!

Of course you do!  All you need to do is sit down for 10 minutes a day for a week and write it down.  Write the story as if you are telling it to a dear friend.  Don’t worry about your grammar or your spelling….just write what’s in your heart.

Then you think…well, if I write it, how will I get it published?  Who will read it?

Well, here’s your answers.

Turning Point International in cooperation with Fabulist Flash publishing is compiling a new anthology entitled, “Life Choices.”  The book is scheduled to be released in September.  We would like to have you write a chapter in this book. The arrangement is as follows:

You write a chapter of approximately 1500 -2000 words.  That’s about 6 pages.. You pick from the list below which subject you would like to write about… something about a choice that you made or about someone else’s choice that turned his or her life around and/or that influenced you in a positive way.  The book will be divided into two parts: Personal Choices and Professional Choices.

Chapters are available for the Personal Choices Section on the subjects of:

  • Love
  • Friendship
  • Intuition
  • Enthusiasm
  • Compassion
  • Health
  • Optimism
  • Innovation
  • Charisma
  • Empathy
  • Spirituality

In the Professional Choices section, you can select from chapters on:

  • Leadership
  • Image
  • Financial Independence
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Communication
  • Happiness
  • Opportunity
  • Integrity
  • Creativity
  • Excellence
  • Success

Here's how it works. You pick which chapter you want to write. You write between 1500 and 2000 words (approximately 6 pages). We will take care of editing, formatting & design, registration of the book, and getting the book distributed to Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon, etc.

You agree to buy 300 books at $8.50 per book which comes to a total of $2550.00. You can then sell those 300 books for $19.95 per copy which gives you a potential profit of $3,450.00 on your books.

There is no extra charge for your photo to be in/on the book. Your name, bio, and contact information will, of course, appear at the end of your chapter so people can contact you directly for speaking engagements and/or consultation.  There is no extra charge for us shipping the 300 books to you if you live within the continental United States.

If you are interested in participating in this, please let us know right away and we will send you the submission guidelines.

Mind Workout: Learning Log

What it is

A tool to encourage team members to make learning a habit

What You’ll Need

A spiral notebook or empty journal for each participant

How It Works

Encourage each team member to keep a learning log!
Have them write down interesting things they learn from books, other people, observations, the Web, etc.  Set aside a specific time each month to ask them to share some of the items from their logs.

Ask them if there are any ideas they have logged that might be implemented to improve service, quality, processes, systems and products to the end user in your place of business or organization.

Creating a specific time for your team members to share what they have learned will translate into the enhancement of skills essential to achieving results.

What Judi's Clients Are Saying

This review appeared on Amazon.com under reviews for Judi’s Achievement Journal.

By

Dave Carpenter "Peak Performance Scholar" (Atlanta, GA) –

I bought this product out of curiosity as an add-on to Judi Moreo's book, You Are More Than Enough. I thought the book was first rate (see my separate review of it), but I thought this Achievement Journal was even better. There is so much I love about this product.

First, the notion of an "achievement journal" is new to me. As I write this, I am not sure whether this is a concept Judi conceived or I have just missed a concept that has been around for years. Doesn't really matter: I am so grateful she introduced me to the concept. Given the importance I have long placed with my mentoring in celebrating ones victories (i.e., achievements), this is great way to capture one's victories. Every person should have, and use, an achievement journal.

Second, this product is beautifully designed. Simply put, this is one of the most beautiful journals...of any kind...that I have ever seen. Every design element is well executed and the resulting piece is like a work of art. Truly beautiful!

Third, the wisdom woven throughout the journal is superb. Some, like the balance wheel as just one example, are sound concepts pioneered by others. Much of the wisdom is that of Judi. All of it is thoughtful, logical, and consistent with best practices in the self development field.

Because of the synergy of these three elements, the product has a magical feel for me. What a wonderful gift for a friend or loved one.

Seldom do I award five stars and feel my rating is inadequate. Five stars for this product understates its beauty, utility, and value. Judi Moreo, you have spoken volumes about what you are about as person with this beautiful creation. Kudos to you!

Imagine That...
A Picture Book of Possibilities

by Rosemary
Holmes-Gull

Illustrated by Bentley Holmes-Gull

Imagine That...

This delightful picture book inspires and motivates children to see and believe in their magnificence. Using examples from nature--the ant, the butterfly, and the bumble bee--children come to understand their power, their ability to overcome difficulties and challenges, even the ability to do the seemingly impossible. All of this because they have been blessed with the gift of imagination. A recurring theme throughout the book is: If you believe it, you will find a way to achieve it.

This has truly been a labor of love for Rosemary,” a work of heart” as she plans to donate part of the proceeds from sales of the book to Mothers Without Borders, an organization that works with AIDS orphans in Zambia. Rosemary is traveling to Zambia in July to work as a volunteer with the children.
She is especially proud of the wonderful illustrations that her son, Bentley provided for the book. It was joyful experience to collaborate with him in this venture.

For details on purchasing the book, please visit childrensimaginings.com

Purchase this book on May 26th and you will receive the audio book and other gifts absolutely free.
