Dear ,

This has been an exciting week.  I am the keynote speaker at the Conference for Women at Work.  My presentation is built around my book, “You Are More Than Enough:  Every Woman’s Guide to Purpose, Passion and Power.”  There are two other speakers that speak at the conference every day.  Dr. Kimberly Ventus-Darks from Cincinnati, Ohio and Deidre Dutcher from Naples, New York.  Our three styles of speaking are very different and yet it makes a nice blend for the day.  The evaluations have been outstanding for all the speakers.  Many people have commented that this is the best program they have ever attended.  I think it’s because we are all very knowledgeable and we are having such a great time!

This week we have spoken in Louisville, Kentucky; Indianapolis, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Bloomington, Minnesota.  The audiences have been great.  We have met such incredible women from all walks of life.   The weather has been good. No blowing snow.  In some of the cities, there was snow on the ground and it was cold, but definitely good weather.  We drove from each of the cities to the next until Milwaukee and then we flew to Minneapolis/Bloomington.  It turns out that Deidre and Kim like Cracker Barrel Restaurants almost as much as I do, so we set the Garmin GPS to find the Cracker Barrels along the route.  The food is so good.  It’s almost like home cooking.  We don’t have a Cracker Barrel in Las Vegas where I live so whenever I get the chance, I have dinner at one on the road.  This time I was delighted to see that the ones we visited had T-shirts that had sayings on them...sayings about Chocolate.  And since I am in the healthy chocolate business, I, of course, had to have one of each of the shirts.  In fact, Deidre even bought one and wore it under her suit jacket today.  There’s nothing quite as wonderful as a friend that will buy her own t-shirt to support you in your campaign to recruit the world into eating healthy chocolate instead of the kind that’s been dutched down with fillers, waxes, and milk products.  They also had some great plates with chocolate sayings on them that I would have loved to have purchased to use at my chocolate tastings to serve the chocolate, but plates are a little hard to transport about in a suitcase as one travels city to city.  Next car trip…watch out Cracker Barrel!

Hope you are having a wonderful March!  Just think, it’s almost spring.

Yamte*,

*You Are More Than Enough

Do Something

What have you done today?  Sure, you got up, got the kids off to school, fed the cat, put in a load of laundry and made it to work.  But what have you really done today?

Most people these days are so busy just getting by they don’t take time to think about what is really getting done.  And, frankly, they just don’t care.  It takes so much time and energy to accomplish the things that have to be done to insure survival, there is little left for figuring out what could be, if only we cared enough to make it happen.

Apathy, is the number one disease spreading around the world today.  Somewhere between apathetic individuals with a total disregard for anything and extremists loudly and violently vocal about a single idea, there is a middle ground.  It is a place where we all stop, think and do our part.

It doesn’t take much to pick up a stray piece of trash that has blown into the neighbors yard instead of just assuming someone else will take care of it.  We all want ‘someone’ to “do something” about everything from the quality of education in our schools and the potholes in the road to the economy, global warming and world peace.   We are all, each of us, that someone.  And while we can’t just wave a magic wand and make it all better, we can do SOMETHING – anything.

Write a letter to your congressman/woman.  Volunteer at your child’s school.  Visit someone in a nursing home.  Donate to a food pantry.  Speak kind words, share a smile, help the gentleman in the wheelchair reach the box on the top shelf.   Organize a carpool at your office or child’s school to save gas and the environment.  Spend a few hours serving meals at your local homeless shelter.   No matter how bad you think it is for you, there is always someone worse off than you who would appreciate a helping hand. Get involved.   Hug a child, call your mom.  If you don’t consciously get involved in life, in your community, in your job, you will wake up one day and realize that life just sort of happened.  You didn’t live, you just took up space and air.

Stop waiting for things to get better...do something.

Achieving Success With a Mentor

Do you know that even though Oprah has the number one talk show in the world and earns billions of dollars, she has a mentor?  Do you know that most people approach the path to success without one? If being successful is on your “To Do” list, getting a mentor should be on your “To Do Immediately” list.  If you don’t have a mentor, you’re placing yourself at a huge disadvantage.  Many people with a vision decide to go it alone without realizing, or accepting the fact that the road to success could be a lot shorter and smoother if they reached out for help from someone wise.

Choosing a quality mentor can take some time. You will need to network and ask for referrals. Once you have met someone who has created the kind of success you desire, it is important to do all that you can to ensure that the relationship flourishes.

Practice Humility
The best thing you can do for yourself (and your mentor) is “leave your ego at the door.” When you find yourself in the company of someone who has achieved greatness, the last thing you want to do is try to pass yourself off as their professional equal.  For example, it’s insulting to ask for guidance and then turnaround and tell the mentor that you want to do it your way. It is especially insulting to discuss them and/or their business with others with whom they work or even give your opinion of how they handle their business.  Avoid the natural tendency to compete.

Serve to Learn
Good mentors are hard to pin down because success is in their blood and they are on the move.  To them, time is just as valuable as money.  In many cases, time is more valuable to them than money.  Be willing to place your agenda aside, roll up your sleeves, and help them maximize their time.

Be Loyal
If you have been fortunate enough to find someone who is willing to help you achieve success, make that relationship a priority.  In whatever way possible, arrange your schedule around theirs and be flexible when necessary.  If you agree to do something, do it. Show them that you’re dependable and that you finish what you start.

Pay Attention
The problem with simply listening to directions is that it’s very easy to slip into “thinking” while the other person is speaking.  In order to prevent missing important details, focus on each word, repeating it to yourself as it is being said. Using your mind’s ability to record what you hear will help you eliminate mistakes.

Having a mentor is a marvelous gift. When you work smart, the value of the experience increases along the way. Who knows…you just might end up like Oprah… achieving greatness of your own… with a few billions on the side!

Mind Workout

What It Is:
A creative discussion technique for team members to share information and their points of view.

What You’ll Need:
Custom made or off-the-shelf fortune cookies

How It Works:
Have your local bakery make fortune cookies with your own fortunes baked into them. These fortunes can be any issues you want the entire staff to address. Have each team member share his/her fortune statement with the group. Allow enough time for team members to discuss these fortune statements and their ideas regarding any complex issues. Off-the-shelf fortune cookies can be used to open meetings by having team members discuss their generic fortune statements, which have no bearing in particular other than to encourage communication. Allow one minute for each team member, then proceed with the formal portion of your meeting.

What Judi's Clients Are Saying

"Awesome.  I've never experienced anything like this before."

L. Theresa Dunn
University of Pittsburgh

"Very inspirational, educational, great information to pass on to others.  I will recommend this training to others."

Debra Custis,
Drug Enforcement Administration

"I was forced to attend a company sponsored class on communicating with tact and finesse. I originally took this as an insult on my character and a punishment for my having pointed out the dirt that management was sweeping under the rug!!! So, to say the least… I walked in with a prejudice and a preconceived notion of what to expect (boring, lengthy and agonizing) and was wondering how I’d get through these next two days.

Upon entering the class, this attractive, mature stylishly dressed women welcomed me and began to speak (in her Texas drawl). Her style and flow were admirable. She introduced the topic, and began to relate some of her (humorous) past experiences that made this particular class on character enhancement FUN and Informative. She gave great insight on how these communication skills can be applied to my daily experiences. It was a pleasure being in with Judi. I hope she didn’t raise the bar too high. I have another class I have to attend and because of Judi Moreo, I’m looking forward to it!!!"

Publishing Opportunity

Several of you have contacted us, said you need back-of-the-room product and asked if we can help you out. The answer is "Yes.”

At present, we are putting together a new book entitled, "Life Choices." The chapters will consist of things we make choices about in life and how you or someone you know have made those choices and what the outcome has been. The book will be divided into two parts: Personal Choices and Professional Choices.

We need chapters for the Personal Choices Section on the subjects of: Love, Intuition, Friendship, Enthusiasm, Compassion, Health, Optimism, Innovation, Charisma, Empathy, Spirituality

In the Professional Choices section, we need chapters on:
Leadership, Image, Financial Independence, Entrepreneurship, Communication, Happiness, Opportunity, Integrity, Creativity, Excellence, Success.

Here's how it works. You pick which chapter you want to write. You write between 1500 and 2000 words (approximately 6 pages). You agree to buy 300 books at $8.50 per book which comes to a total of $2550.00. You can then sell those 300 books for $19.95 per copy which gives you a potential profit of $3,450.00 on your books.

There is no extra charge for your photo to be in/on the book. Your name, bio,and contact information will, of course, appear at the end of your chapter so people can contact you directly for speaking engagements.

We will take care of editing, formatting & design, registration of the book, and getting it distributed to Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon, etc.

If you are interested in participating in this, please let us know right away.

The book will be published by the end of June 2009.  www.judimoreo.com  (702) 896-2228
