Dear ,

My year started out quite interesting.  Some hacker got into my site and removed all my blog posts….about 100 articles that I had written last year and even got into one of my email accounts and sent some rather lewd emails out to people as though they were from me.  So if you received anything offensive from me, please forgive me…but please know I didn’t send it! I would NEVER do anything like that.   I don’t know what pleasure people get from being destructive, but some people do enjoy that sort of thing.  You know what was really scary.  One person wrote me back and said how good it was to hear from me! Other than that and the alarm in my home going goofy and waking me up at all hours of the night … as though I had a burglar, I had a very good month!

“You Are More Than Enough” was picked as the Book of the Month by the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf stores and featured in their stores all month along with book signings at four of their locations here in Las Vegas.  Saw lots of old friends…even models that had worked for my agency back when I owned Universal Models many years ago.  I made some new friends, gave away lots of chocolate, and even booked a couple of speaking engagements.

And I was interviewed by Cattel, Las Vegas premier psychic, on her radio show on All Talk Radio. Wow. She’s a great interviewer.  We had a fabulous time on the show.

We mailed out over 30,000 Presenters and Programs catalogues to meeting planners across the US.  If you know of a meeting or event planner who didn’t get one, will you let me know?  Our catalogue lists 35 of America’s most exciting speakers and how to contact them.

Have a wonderful February!

Love,

Help Wanted

You Are More than Enough + Acheivement JournalI have received numerous reports of how my book, “You Are More Than Enough” and the “Achievement Journal” are helping people all over the world.  If you have an Amazon.com account, won’t you be so kind as to go online and post a review of my book?  Only if you liked it, that is!

If Not Now, When?

By Elle Swan

There is an old expression that sums up the path to success in four words: “If not now, when?” It sounds simple enough, but if your goals seem to somehow elude you day after day, year after year, then there might just be a problem with your “Now.” It’s easy to think that your life is just too crowded with responsibilities. Or, that your family members need you every time you turn around. But, let’s take a moment to take a closer look at you.

Do you ever find yourself ignoring a small gentle voice, nudging you to take the stairs instead of the elevator? You push the “up” button anyway.  Do you ever eat just one more of that special thing you like, when something inside of you said you had enough three bites ago? What about when you silently argue with yourself about why you need to keep all those things you can’t fit, even though you refuse to do the kind of exercise that will actually work?

There’s a nasty little tendency in us all that leans toward doing nothing.  Human beings have the luxurious gift of free will.  Oh, how it can become a noose around your neck and suffocate your greatness when you decide to put things off for another day.

Here are three ways that you can make your inner dreams become your reality.

  1. Be Honest.  No matter how you act like you’re satisfied with yourself, you know the times throughout the day when you choose to settle for less. Acknowledge what you hear on the inside. This voice is showing you the path to the better you.
  2. Contrary Action.  Once you’ve started getting honest with yourself about your “inner voice,” begin to do the opposite of what you would usually do.  For example, if you usually take the elevator up one or two floors, and you suddenly hear that small voice, take the stairs. Contrary action is a marvelous strategy to get out of your comfort zone.
  3. Stay in the Moment.  Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in the picture of yourself having to always take the stairs for the rest of your life.  Resist the tendency to dramatize the changes that you are making. Focus on the moment as it comes. Sometimes “Now” is referred to as the “Present.” In that way it’s like a “gift.” Do yourself a favor…cherish all of your gifts!  If not now, when?

Websites: A Part of Your Brand

By Greg Kompes

Everyone needs a Website. These virtual sales brochures brand you as an expert in your niche. When well-designed, Websites create a positive first impression with your editors, agents, publishers, clients and readers. By following these four steps, you’ll have a great, do-it-yourself site online in no time, for under $100 a year.

Step One: Purchase a domain name that reflects you or your services. It’s good to be creative, but important to maintain a professional image. No matter what domain name you choose, it’s a good idea to also purchase your own name (i.e. www.gregorykompes.com), before someone else does.

I use and highly recommend FabulistFlashDomains.com where domain names are under $10 a year and site hosting (see Step Two) starts at $3.99 a month. Do your research, there are a lot of domain providers out there. Most offer an annual payment that adds convenience and saves you money.

Step Two: Websites need a “host” or a place to live online in order to be accessible to viewers. An internet search for “website host services” will jumpstart your research. When selecting a site host, avoid the “free” hosting sites because they put advertising banners on your site creating an unprofessional look. Many site hosts offer banner-free services starting at $3.99 a month. As your career grows, so will your reader following and website needs. It’s good to start small and add services as you need them, so select a host that offers upgradeable services.

Step Three: Create site content that promotes you, and your services.  Websites are perfect for selling books, advertising services, blogging, and capturing your reader fan base through e-mail subscriber lists and newsletters. Future columns will explore these topics in more detail.
Step Four: Build a professional-looking website or blog. Some site hosts offer easy templates. If you can use PowerPoint, you’ll quickly understand Website creation software such as FrontPage, Publisher, or Website Tonight. If you’re interested in learning the simple website programming language HTML, W3Schools.com has an excellent (and free) HTML tutorial.

Or, if you are not technically inclined, you may want to hire someone  to build your site for you. After it’s done, follow your host’s upload instructions (or have your hired gun do so for you) and your site will start promoting you 24-7.

Mind Workout

What It Is:
A  love letter

What You’ll Need:
Pen, nice paper, and an envelope

How It Works:
Sit in a quiet place…alone and write a letter to someone expressing your love and admiration for that person.

Whether you are writing to a sweetheart, a member of your immediate family, or a friend, write a letter…an actual letter on a piece of nice stationary.  In this day of emails, cell phones, and text messages, people don’t take the time to put their real feelings down on a pretty piece of paper and tell another person how much they mean to us, what we like about them and how much we enjoy being with them.  Once you have written the very best letter possible, then put it in an envelope and semi-hide it in a place where the other person will find it.  Don’t worry about spelling or even if you are poetic, just put down your sincere good feelings about the other person.  Believe me, they’ll treasure it forever.   I know…I still have a valentine letter my Mom wrote to me when I was a little girl.
