In This Issue

Dear ,

At the beginning of each new year, many of us make resolutions and goals and then before the year is half over, we have given up on them.  Many of us have given up on making them because when we wrote them down before, we didn’t even look at them again, much less make them happen.

If you haven’t written down your goals for this year, now is as good a time as any.  I am such a believer in goals.  I just wish I could transfer my enthusiasm for them to you.  I want you to live your life so you never have to look back with regrets.

Perhaps you haven’t been attaching your goals to a purpose.  When you write your goal down, write why you want to achieve it.  It is believed that the biggest cause of weight loss in America is the l0 year high school reunion!  The purpose – we want people to see us looking good!!!

There is magic in writing your goals down.  Writing them makes an imprint on the subconscious part of your mind.  Reading them every day reminds your subconscious of what you want.  Then the subconscious goes to work and creates a way to make it happen.

A year ago, I had a goal to write a success guide for women.  I wrote it in my Goal Achievement book. Then I attended the Henderson Writers’ Conference in Las Vegas, where I met a salesman for a publishing company and I told him of my idea.  He told the publisher and she loved the idea.  Now, a year later, my book, “You Are More Than Enough: Every Woman’s Guide to Purpose, Passion, and Power is being released in March by Stephens Press.

Some people think goal setting is boring and I certainly don’t want to bore you, so I’m going to give you just a few quick ideas on setting your goals for this year.

  • Write down something that you really, really want to have, to be, or do.
  • Don’t limit yourself.  Go for something really big.
  • Read your goals daily and do one thing each day toward the achievement of your goals.
  • Give yourself a gold star each time you take a step toward your goal or reach one of your sub-goals.
  • Don’t rush it.  When the time is right, it will happen.

Start today.  Make a goal to get some goals and to write them down. If you do this, you'll live this next year with more purpose, passion, and have more power over your own life.

Kind Regards,

Discipline: The Key to Success

On the days when we are feeling as though nothing is happening in our lives and that we are going nowhere, we must remember that discipline is the key to success.  We must discipline our minds to focus forward on where we want to go and not dwell on where we are at the moment; we must discipline ourselves to talk positively and successfully and not complain about what’s not happening and who’s not doing what.  Discipline is self control.

Think of anyone you know who has achieved their goals.  They have had to discipline themselves. Liberace had to practice every day to become a great pianist.  Kristi Alley had to discipline herself to lose weight.  Nelson Mandela had to stay focused on his vision of a future for 27 years of imprisonment in order to bring a nation to freedom.  He had to discipline his thoughts throughout that time.

If you want to be a success at anything, you must discipline yourself to focus on your goal and work toward it every day.

Mind Workout: Possibilities

Go to your favorite quiet place or anywhere you can feel comfortable and relaxed. Allow yourself to dream about possibilities. When you feel relaxed, make a list of all the things you’d like to have, be, and do as well as the places you’d like to go. Then write why?
